Vinify revolutionizes wine discovery with objective ratings.
Vinify is an educational app conceived under the guidance of a scientific paper, with the primary objective of introducing objectivity to the world of wine consumption.
The core problem addressed by Vinify was how to empower users to discover wine information that is both reliable and objective in an industry where subjective opinions often dominate.
How might we help users discover reliable and objective wine information?
In a strategic collaboration, we partnered with Silvana Mallor Hoya, a skilled informatics and mathematics engineer. Leveraging her expertise, Silvana developed an innovative model for the objective rating of wine, inspired by a research paper:
"Modeling wine preferences by data mining from physicochemical properties"
This study presents an approach to predict wine preferences from objective analytical tests, achieving high accuracy.
An innovative app inspired by Airbnb, featuring two profiles:
Producers could showcase their wines, and consumers could discover new ones.
Our design journey began with mood boards and user surveys that laid the foundation for our branding. Prototyping took us through Lo-Fi, Mid-Fi, and Hi-Fi iterations. The result? A high-fidelity prototype that promises an engaging yet responsible wine app.
This app is the result of a team effort and a lot of hard work. Our goal was to create an innovative and user-friendly app that would provide consumers and providers with a new way of discovering and learning about wine. By combining technology with an intuitive user interface, we believe we have accomplished just that.
We are proud of the app that we have created and the potential it holds for both wine consumers and producers.

"The objective ratings are a total win – no more second-guessing my wine choices. Great job!"
